Luke Thomas graduated, with a BSc. Mechanical Engineering Honours degree from the School of Mechanical Engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand. For his sins, he was employed at Klamflex Pipe Couplings from 1996 until 1999, until he left as the then Technical Manager.

In 1999, Luke Thomas designed and founded the coupling manufacturer Aqualok. Over a period of 7 years the Aqualok product range grew rapidly and was successfully integrated into the Southern African pipe connection market.

In 2006, Luke Thomas sold Aqualok to The Rare Group and embarked on developing an even more super duper range of pipeline connection and repair products. Thomas Pipe Products was born into a modest and rather small, 279sqm mini unit in Honeydew Gauteng.

On the 3rd September 2007, Thomas Pipe Products started manufacturing and trading with a total staff compliment of 2 people, 1 vehicle, very little stock and even less money. After one year the company had grown to more than 30 people and was supplying nation wide. After 2 years a small branch was opened in Cape Town, the Johannesburg operation grew into 4 mini units.

In 2010 it was decided to get serious and build a 4000sqm modern manufacturing facility, designed specifically for the manufacture of pipe couplings and stainless steel repair clamps. The building was completed in May 2011.

In 2011, Thomas Pipe Products purchased Aqualok, uniting the two brand names under a single brand name, that being Thomas.

In 2012, Thomas Pipe Products set up an additional 1000sqm fittings fabrication facility in Honeydew and expanded the Cape Town facility into a 750sqm building.

In 2013, the Johannesburg facility increased to 5500sqm.

Thomas Pipe Products is a company founded on humble beginnings. It is a company that is innovative, technology driven, quality minded and one which acts with integrity with the interests of our suppliers, customers and employees at heart.

We sincerely hope that we continue to grow and develop with the success we have enjoyed over the previous years…
